The Consos clan has lived in Balder's Refuge for centuries. Empires rose and fell around us, but we never left this place.<BR><BR>I have some sense of what's happened in the outside world, but my knowledge of what you'd call "current events" is woefully inadequate.<BR><BR>Walk among the people, <PCNAME>, and hear their stories. Report back to me, but first: truly listen.
Nandu wants a retelling of popori history since the god Balder's death? Has he got a spare month?<BR><BR>Very well. Tell him this. The elin royalty leads us from {@Rgn:68001$$Pora Elinu}. Rida, one of the princesses, was in Balder's refuge recently, and maybe Nandu met her.<NEXTPAGEBUTTON>"Tell me more."</NEXTPAGEBUTTON>
Well, the goddess Elinu hid us away from the world for centuries, but then she disappeared. We should know better than anyone: no one can seal herself away like Elinu. The popori and elin joined the federation as soon as we learned that the argons were destroying the world, not just conquering it.
The history of the high elves should be well known, even to a recluse such as Nandu.<BR><BR>Perhaps he seeks the perspective of a learned high elf, however, rather than hearing tales of glory secondhand. So be it.<BR><BR><NEXTPAGEBUTTON>"Just a summary, please."</NEXTPAGEBUTTON>
Elven society flourished and was the envy of the world, until an accident caused the Flower of Life, the source of all Allemantheia's power, to cascade out of control.<BR><BR>Only the sacrifice of the greatest elven mind brought the magic under control again, in the form of a living artifact called the Core.<BR><BR>Today the high elves are one of many races in the Valkyon Federation, but as always, elves lead by example. My people kindly and gently correct our less-refined brethren.
Nandu knows that gods often strive against gods. For centuries, he has lived where the noblest of gods, Balder, died at the hands of his divine enemies.<BR><BR>After the Divine War, the surviving gods were all safe. Until recently.<BR><BR>But now...Akasha? Dead. Killian? Dead. Thulsa? Dead. All at the hands of the same mortal. Isn't that so, <PCNAME>?<NEXTPAGEBUTTON>"I didn't act alone."</NEXTPAGEBUTTON>
Are you being modest or cautious, I wonder?<BR><BR>You need not reveal yourself, but you might mention to Nandu that everyone—the Mysterium, the federation, the argons, the gods themselves—is watching the mortal who killed those gods.<BR><BR>I wonder how this mortal god-killer withstands such scrutiny. But I bet you don't have to wonder, do you?
Three tales from three storytellers. An interesting current events lesson for me.<BR><BR>And an interesting psychology lesson for you.<NEXTPAGEBUTTON>"How so?"</NEXTPAGEBUTTON>
Consider this, <PCNAME>: Did the storytellers teach you about history, or did they inadvertently teach you about themselves?
